WHAT MAKES HOFFMAN'S NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS UNIQUE?
If you compare our 15 ml single bottles to other 100% USDA certified organic essential oils that are high quality and pure, then the answer might be not much. But let me be clear: as a family and a company, while we are a fan of the benefits of natural derivatives, we did not set out to join the essential oil market. We have plenty of family/friends selling essential oils through MLM oils companies, so if that was our aim, it would have been a much easier transition into a ready-made business model.
We are, simply put, parents who happened to stumble upon the recipe for a great, safe, natural bug sprayout of necessity. When we lived in the islands, and our kids were getting assaulted by no-see-ums and mosquitoes, we mixed up a natural, DEET-free bug spray using six essential oils we had on hand, Honduran rum, and rainwater. (You can read the longer story behind the hippie bug spray here.) It wasn't until we came back to the US that we started researching to source ingredients and perfecting our bug spray recipe for maximum potency, organic certification and efficacy.
We spent the next few years bottling this bug spray for friends and family, and tweaking the blends as we finalized our ingredient supply. So much of the learning curve involved price and quality assessments. In oils, we tried everything from the cheapest black box Chinese imports, that ran out of the bottles suspiciously like water and smelled strangely sharp and chemical, to health food store brands like NOW and Aura Cacia, to the MLM oils companies, where the quality was not necessarily higher, but the price tag definitely was.
On principle, we wanted our ingredients to be pure, not cut with other oils or water, and USDA certified organic. This is the happy result:
We didn't start Hoffman's Natural to sell essential oils, but we are so happy with the sourcing, organic certification and purity of the oils we use in our products that we are inspired to share them with others. Try them for yourself, and compare them in price and quality to other oils.
